Hello, I am Jillian Graham, a licensed therapist. I currently work as an LCSW providing online therapy in San Diego, California. I am a mom of 3 teen daughters, two of which have ADHD. My husband, mom and brother also have ADHD so I can say that I actually live the ADHD life and feel like I can understand many of the daily struggles with such a unique brain. I have also worked in the field, supporting San Diego Regional Center consumers and families through a wrap around program. I had success working with a range of clients who have autism, Asperger's, ADHD, anxiety, social anxietytrauma, and social struggles. I have attended school visits, IEP's (Elementary-college with DSP services), medical appointments, and psychiatrist appointments along with my clients through the wraparound program so have hands on understanding of supports for neurodiverse clients. I have also developed behavioral intervention programs to help manage challenging behaviors in the home. Since I have a background in social work, I have used a bio-psychosocial approach which basically means that I like to look at everything that impacts a client: Self, medical issues, family supports, environmental stressors, physiological factors such as sensory dysregulation, relationship dynamics, and more. I also have formal training in applied behavioral analysis. I find that this helps me work with clients who are looking for specific tools to make change.
I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master's Degree in Social Work in 2003. I have since worked in various behavioral health treatment settings with children and adults including private practice, mental health hospital, group home and foster care settings, and as a behavioral therapist with a wraparound program. I named my practice A Better Understanding, Inc. because I believe that therapy is about finding a better understanding in your life and your relationships so that you can live your best life.
